Leasing Solutions

We have made an overview, so you can pick the right solution

Which leasing solution should you choose?

If leasing is your thing, you need to know that in Denmark there are several different kinds of leasing opportunities for you to choose from. Below is a quick overview for you to peruse to better choose the solution most suitable for your needs.

Here below you can see the leasing solutions:

  • Private Leasing
  • Flex leasing
  • Split leasing
  • Mini leasing
  • Business Leasing

Private Leasing

When choosing to lease privately, there are a number of advantages:

  • As much as 100 % financing of your leasing vehicle
  • Free mileage during the leasing period
  • Affordable monthly leasing payments
  • Complete right of use of the leasing vehicle

It is most profitable for you to combine private leasing with either flex leasing or split leasing. That way you get all the advantages of one of the two other leasing opportunities at an affordable price.

Flex leasing

If you choose flex leasing you only pay the registration tax for the desired leasing period. Usually, that entails that you pay a first time instalment covering approx. 25-30 % of the car’s value. Hereinafter, you pay a fixed monthly instalment. This way you always know the exact monthly cost of leasing the vehicle.

The car’s age determines the percentage of the registration tax:

  • 2 % per month for the first 3 months of the car’s duration
  • 1 % from 3 to 36 months
  • 0,5 % after 36 months

Flex leasing is particularly attractive if you are looking to get an expensive leasing vehicle, as you will save significantly more than if you were to purchase the car.

Split Leasing

In Denmark, you have the opportunity of using your company car without additional taxation if you choose a split leasing contract. However, it requires that you and your employer can agree on the user terms.

You and your employer share the cost of service and leasing. In addition, you pay for your personal mileage, while your employer pays for mileage attributed to work.

For more information on split leasing, please visit the Danish Customs and Tax Administration’s website: https://www.skat.dk/SKAT.aspx?oID=1880051

Please note that your work mileage must account for more than 60 % of the total mileage before split leasing becomes a profitable solution.

Mini Leasing

Mini Leasing is a sensible solution if you need to lease a car for a short period of time.

For example if you are waiting for the delivery of your new car, if you have sold your car and have not yet decided which car you want next, if you work abroad and are not often in Denmark, or if you have a need or desire to change cars often.

Mini Leasing provides the opportunity of leasing a car for a short duration, from 1 to 12 months. There are no ties transgressing the leasing period, nor any other costs than your fuel consumption.

Many opt for mini leasing rather than using a rental car, as there are a series of benefits to be gotten from choosing mini leasing:

  • You do not pay a one-time fee, as you do in private leasing
  • If your transportation needs vary, mini leasing is more financially viable than a longer leasing period
  • The agreement includes fees, repairs and insurance etc.
  • You avoid maintenance and resale, unlike other leasing options.

There are a great many advantages to mini leasing, but beware that if your need for transportation changes, it can cost you in overspent mileage. If your need changes significantly, we recommend that you look into one of the other leasing opportunities.

Business Leasing

Business leasing is a strong alternative to traditional financing for a company.

The advantages of business leasing include:

  • As much as 100 % financing of your leasing vehicle
  • Free mileage during the leasing period
  • Affordable monthly leasing payments
  • Complete right of use of the leasing vehicle
  • Tax-deductable operating costs
  • Attractive taxation solutions.

Often you will get even more out of your financing if you combine your business leasing with either flex leasing or split leasing, which are outlined above.

DISCLAIMER: Please note that the above information pertains to Denmark.

Leasing for use in other countries may entail different terms and conditions as well as other kinds of leasing opportunities.
